The Philippines! My homeland!
Philippines has about 7000+ islands, and I was lucky to visit the Hundred Islands in Pangasinan, Philippines! I Grew up in Manila, and I never had explored all throughout Philippines until I started going back to visit my family for Vacations. This time around, we decided to go as a group of 20 or more to Hundred Islands, taking advantage of the time we have together since we don’t know when we’d see each other again. And as they say, “It’s more fun in the Philippines.”
So to start off, the drive was a 6-7 hour drive from Bangued Abra, Philippines to Alaminos, Pangasinan. The drive was incredibly scenic and with the use of an SUV, Pickup and Jeepney, we were able to pack a lot of people, luggage and food. Be sure to have some comfortable clothes, swimming clothes, water shoes, bug spray and hiking boots handy when planning a trip here as hiking and water activities play a big part of the trip.
We went in the month of April, which tends to be very hot and humid, perfect timing to be at the beach. We stayed in the mainland, rented a house and fortunately, this place was able to accommodate all of us! Now we were off to Adventure! To get to some of the Islands, we had to take a ferry boat as our transportation. There are plenty of available ferry rides by the dock, but it’s always best to reserve it ahead of time to accommodate your group. There are three main islands tourist are allowed to go, these are the Governor Island, Quezon Island, and Children’s Island. Our Ferry Captain (is that a title?) was able to let us explore to different islands and enjoy a different scenery.
There are tons of activities to do, such as kayaking, zip lining between the islands, boat tours, cave diving, snorkeling, cliff jumping, visiting monkey island, hiking for a great view, and so much more! It was thrilling to do the cliff jumping in Marcos Island, in Imelda’s Cave, a 20 foot jump. Then there is the underwater Snorkeling and it was something new for me, I saw Nemo and Dory (LoL), and other marine life under water. We also hiked to see what the beautiful Hundred Islands has to offer.
At the end of the day, we had a blast and did as much as we could even it was for a short time. Philippines has a lot to offer, getting away from the hustling and bustling city of Manila, and explore the other 7000 plus islands that this country has to offer. Planning my next trip will be a breeze knowing what I know now, but be prepared, if you plan on stopping by sometime, depending where you are in the world it could be a long flight.
Thank you to my dearest family for exploring with me.
