Aloha!
Let’s talk about Hawaii, I myself haven’t been to all islands as of yet, but It is on my list, and I hope to visit soon.
Maui, which happens to be my favorite island so far; If you don’t know the island is called “The Valley Isle” and the second largest island of the Hawaiian islands. I love this island because it has many beautiful beaches, mountains to explore and the magnificent sunrise and sunset from Haleakala. The first day I landed in Maui, I fell in love. It reminded me of the Philippines because of it’s beautiful tropical weather.
This island itself has so much to offer. I’ve explored the Maui Island as much as I can, I even go back year after year if time permits. A must in Maui is to soak up the sun, relax by the beach and there really isn’t a lot of tourists here. There are white sand beaches, black sand beaches and pebble beaches. You can also just simply stay by your hotel with their own private beach, You can never go wrong with that. This is a must and its to eat the local foods, such as Spam Musubi and which you can find from gas stations, supermarkets to mom & pop shops. My favorite meal has to be Loco Moco, this is a dish that consist of white rice, topped with a hamburger patty, yes a hamburger patty, a fried egg and lots of brown gravy! Just writing this is making me hungry (lol).
Dessert? Hawaiian Shaved Ice topped with many flavors that you can mainly only find in Hawaii like Lilikoi, Li Hing Mui, Haupia, or POG (Passion fruit, Orange, Guava). Every vendor has tons of original flavors you can choose and on top of that I add additional toppings on mine such as, Ice cream, mochi, azuki beans, custard or/and condensed milk. Its yummy, and pick what suits to your liking. It will always taste good no matter what mixture flavors and toppings you like. If you have any more room to eat for later, try Sam Sato’s Family owned restaurant and their popular dish “dry noodles”, it is not in the soup, this is the Saimin Noodle. This place only serves during breakfast and lunch, and they have a variety of food you can try. Thanks to my family that brought me here I was able to try something new and enjoyed it, the Saimin Noodles are so tasty and they are packed with flavors. Loco Moco is in their menu too, so you can try all this in one place!
Your next adventure should be Road To Hana! Road to Hana is a winding country road in Maui that is very popular to locals and tourist. First of all, if you get easily dizzy while in the car make sure you either drive or sit in the front. Winding roads with a lot of curves left and right. With this, you can stop and enjoy what the island has to offer around Road to Hana. The way we did it is with a pick up truck, I sat in the back with a beach chair and enjoyed the fresh air and sightseeing and got a tan at the same time. So here are a few of the sights to see, Paia Town, the twin falls, Honomanu Bay, Ke’anae Arboretum, Halfway to Hana Stand (this is where you MUST get your banana bread) Wailua Falls, Koki Beach and the list goes on. This does take up the whole day to do, so make room in your schedule and be prepared on what you want to see before taking on this adventure. Make sure to pack food, drinks, swimming clothes, water shoes to hike, and whatever necessities you need.
As you can read, I can go on and on with Maui. It is my favorite island so far, I am an adventurer and this island brings the best out of me. A lot of hiking spots, mountains to looks at, beautiful beaches to see, and experience the Hawaiian Tropical Weather. If you have never been, consider the Maui island on your travel list. I hope you enjoy it as much as I do and explore new things. This island is nothing like the Mainland.
