Disney’s California adventure is the park adjacent to Disneyland located in Anaheim, California. This park was originally intended to be for tourist outside of California to experience everything that the golden state has to offer without going up and down the state. Since then the park has transformed to be more of a Pixar and Marvel park.
Planning a trip to California Adventure I’ve noticed can be quite confusing for people that aren’t native to California. Here is a quick guide and run down on how to plan your Disney adventure.
When entering the park be sure to pick up a map as California Adventure’s layout is a little more complicated than that of Disneyland. Some of the highlights of California Adventure are Car’s Land, Marvel’s Avenger’s Campus and Pixar Pier. Pixar pier is designed to look like a boardwalk or pier you’d find at any of the state’s coasts with carnival rides, Ferris wheel and roller coasters. California Screaming is a ride you don’t want to miss when here.
Car’s Land is a beautifully decorated area with one of the best rides in the park; Radiator Springs Racers! Be sure to jump in the single riders line to avoid the long line as it can be a 2 hour wait for this gem. Be sure to visit this section at night as the entire section lights up like a classic Midwestern town you’d find in the 1950’s.
Marvel’s Avengers Campus is the newest addition to the park and is connected to Car’s Land. This section of the park features most of Marvel’s line of up of super hero characters from Spider-man to Earth’s Mightiest Heroes the Avengers. Operation Breakout is the ride formally known as Hollywood Tower of Terror which allows you to visit the Guardians of the Galaxy and experience 0 gravity followed by an enormous drop.
Disney’s California Adventure may not have a fireworks display like Disneyland does but it does have a show called The World of Color which features an amazing display of water, color and music that revisits some of Disney’s classic films. This show is a must for anyone that hasn’t visit the park so be sure to go early and get a fast pass for it. The show is located across from Pixar Pier and in front of The Little Mermaid ride. If you stay at the Paradise Pier Hotel you’ll get a great view of the show from your room window.
Walking from one end of the park to the next can get exhausting so be mindful of what shoes you bring. This park tends to usually close an hour earlier than Disneyland as well so be sure to use your time wisely when navigating through the park. There is more than enough to do here that’ll take you the whole day to get done.
