Set sail on a ghoulish adventure!
That spooky time of the year is upon us once again which means it’s time to talk about events to do that’ll give you both tricks and treats. Queen Mary’s Dark Harbor is an event located in Long Beach, California that takes place on the real Queen Mary ship. Don’t worry as the ship is permanently docked at the port and can’t actually sail. This is not a real cruise, but the ship itself is actually real.
RMS Queen Mary is supposedly home to real ghosts as many crew members have died aboard the vessel so the legends go. The spirits have long haunted the halls and deck of the ship and has caused a number of tourist to travel here to get a glimpse of them. During the months from September to Halloween the port where the Queen Mary is stationed at gets transformed into a Halloween type carnival for all to enjoy. There are horror inspired mazes, games, carnival style rides, concerts, and food for party goers to enjoy.
Every year the mazes and look change so it won’t always be the same experience as it was the year before. One of the best aspects of going is usually that they have two mazes located inside the ship itself which is a very neat experience. Entering the harbor you also get a haunted photo keep sake from that year as well. I always have a blast whenever I go and look forward to it each year.
I must warn that some of the mazes along with costumes are a little mature and only those 18 years of age should attend. They serve alcohol as well for anyone wanting to grab a drink while enjoying the festivities. Parking is usually an extra amount unless you get lucky and happen to find a premier spot out side of the area with free parking. Be sure to arrive a little early as there tends to be a line that builds up letting in guests.
