A Disneyland Christmas

Disneyland is probably the most recognizable theme park on the planet. It is considered the happiest place on earth, but there is one special time of the year where the park gets just a little more magical. That is around the holidays. Planning a trip to Disneyland California and want it to be memorable? Then this is the time to go.

Disney doesn’t hold back the hits during the holidays as the decorations in and around the park are absolutely stunning. Everything is decorated and has a little Disney touch to it as well like Mickey Mouse wreaths or Lilo & Stitch ornaments. One of the highlights of the park is the grand Christmas tree the minute you walk in. One of the largest trees I’ve ever seen that also has it’s own lighting ceremony as well.

The decorations get that much better as many of the rides and attractions are altered and changed for this special occasion. The castle gets a remodel to look as though snow and ice have adorned it. It’s a Small World is filled with beautiful lights and is quite the spectacular sight to see in person. I can go on and on of how magical the whole experience is, but there is one ride in particular that needs to be addressed; The Haunted Mansion.

The Haunted Mansion is completely remolded and redesigned to look like Tim Burton’s The Nightmare Before Christmas. The classic Grinning Ghost song has been altered to a remix version incorporating “Making Christmas” and “What’s This” from the popular film. Jack and Sally can also be caught right outside for a special photo op you can only get this time of the year.

There are also specialty foods that change every year. Sometimes you’ll see something like holiday green and red churros or ginger bread flavored beignets. They serve hot chocolate with marshmallows and host a number of limited edition merchandise this time of the year as well. The have special pins that I try to watch out for as well. Pin collecting is huge in the Disneyland community.

This time of the year does tend to get crowded so be mindful of long wait time for some of your favorite rides. One little treat that they do every year is making it snow in the park. That has to be one of my favorite parts around the holidays when I visit. Be sure to save a spot in advance for the Holiday parade and the lighting of the castle as the show can be very memorable and make your trip all that better.
