Who says pancakes are only breakfast food? I recently came across a new little spot that calls itself Mini Mini Pancakes located here in the greater Los Angeles area. What an amazing treat it was as well. The smell of warm fluffy pancakes, ice cream and agua fresca (fruit water) filled the air as I approached the stand out in front of a Target shopping center.
I had the privilege of getting two of their premier dishes which were, small fluffy pancakes, chopped bananas, nutella and a scoop of vanilla ice cream and powdered cocoa. The second dish was pancakes, strawberries, vanilla ice cream and layered with fruity pebbles. Both were yummy and it was very difficult to decide which one I liked more. I personally love bananas and that ultimately became the winner with the fruity pebbles one being a close second.
The stand is ran by a woman that goes by “La Chula” and she also has a name for just the agua fresca called “Aguas La Chula”. There’s something about watching them make the dishes as well that is very therapeutic. The making is in view as she filled each tiny indent on the hot stove with pancake whip and you get to see how the pancakes expand and puff up, then she takes them out with a small stick. The magic really starts when you see the pouring of the nutella or whipped cream, ice cream and powdered sugar or cocoa. Makes your mouth drool while you wait for your meal.
