Thin pancakes covered in nutella, whip cream, bananas, strawberries is an award winning culinary combination. LA’s Crepes is the place to be for this specialty treat. I had the pleasure of meeting with the owner and hearing his story and how he got set up with this small LA based food cart.
Jose Dominguez started off owning a LA Michoacana store and selling all kinds of Mexican based delicacies out of there. Then things took a turn when Covid-19 hit and his business started falling, but rather than give up, he purchased a little cart and started selling crepes in order to keep his employees employed (most of which are single mothers). I was able to get a personal experience in seeing his chefs create these mouth watering desserts first hand.
The spot was booming with clients as they single file lined up ready to get their hands on a snack. It’s a create your own style concoction that allows you to choose a number of different flavors and toppings. Jose himself gave me his signature crepe which consists of nutella, bananas, whip cream and Ferrero Rocher chocolates. I am a sucker for sweets and I have to say that this was absolutely amazing. I had to stop myself from asking for another one or i’d never stop. Don’t believe me? Check out the photo below to see just how scrumptious it looks.
Now what I’m about to tell you next stays between you and I as they have yet to fully announce it. They plan on expanding their business as it has been booming to a special food truck unlike anything you’ve seen before. This new food truck will allow them to continue serving their popular crepes and hopefully if popular enough maybe even travel states! So to all my readers outside of the Los Angeles area then get ready for your taste buds to go on an adventure. They also do catering for a number of events such as birthdays, anniversaries and much more.
You can find them on Instagram under @Las_Crepes and visit them at two locations, either out front of the Sylmar Post Office between the hours of 5pm to 10pm or at their 2nd location 9077 Van Nuys inside the La Michoacana store. While there be sure to bounce over next door and get your hands on some chamoy candy. You can find them on instagram under @changamoycandy. If you do happen to stop by, be sure to let them know Mini Jai sent you!
