El Capitan Theater

Welcome to Disney’s El Capitan Theater!

Coming to Los Angeles and want something family friendly to do? Check out El Capitan theater which is owned by the Walt Disney company and hosts a number of movies year round.

The theater is located right on the Hollywood strip where you can see the celebrity stars and is also attached to the Jimmy Kimmel Theater where the late night comedian hosts his show. Next door is also a Disney store/Ice cream parlor knows as the Ghirardalli soda fountain and ice cream shop where you can buy exclusive pins and merchandise.

El Capitan Theater can sell out quick as they only have one stage and usually feature the latest films relating to Star Wars, Marvel, Pixar and of course Disney. Throughout the year they usually play Disney classics such as Pinocchio and Lilo & Stitch.

The theater also has a subsection where you can usually go and see props and costumes from the film or original animator’s art. There’s places to take unique photos to share on social media as well as concessions having merchandise only found there like popcorn buckets, souvenir cups and toys.

One highlight is that before most movies they have a small show for the audience with live music. During my viewing of Little mermaid the characters came out and sang a song as bubbles came down from the rafters. Usually they’ll have someone on piano play Disney classics for everyone to sing along to.

El Capitan theater is definitely a fun and creative thing to do without breaking the bank and allows to be in the heart of Hollywood as right across the street is the Hollywood mall and many places to dine and attractions to see.
