Oktoberfest isn’t the only thing to do in Germany!
Movie Park is a theme park in West Germany located in Bottrop-Kirchhellen just north of Dusseldorf. The park is owned by Warner Bros. and has rides and attractions that aren’t seen anywhere else in the world including the United States. Warner Bros. Studios seems to own this park, but it houses a list of movie and television characters from other studios as well.
The park is set up like most having different sections belonging to certain properties. The “lands” are as follows: The Hollywood Street Set (You can see the cast of the Looney Tunes including Space Jam characters, The Lost Temple film and Area 51 aliens from different films). Then they have Streets of New York where you can find the Transformers and Van Helsing. There’s Santa Monica Pier which is pretty much a regular boardwalk area. They have The Old West where you can find characters such as Jesse James, Butch Cassidy and characters from The Walking Dead.
There’s a section for Gotham City where you can meet Batman licensed characters along with the Justice League. At Adventure Lagoon you can meet the friendly characters from the Ice Age franchise along with their own ride. For all those Star Trek lovers then Federation Plaza is where you want to be to experience the Star Trek rides along with very cool and rare merchandise.
One land that has probably the most characters in it would be their Nicktoons Land. There you can meet the characters from Spongebob Squarepants, Paw Patrol, Dora the Explorer, Avatar The Last Airbender, Danny Phantom, Fairly Odd Parents, The Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles and much much more. Most of them having their own attractions like Aangs Glider Coaster.
The park is intended for families but also thrill seekers as there are a lot of sections for kids and rides for them to enjoy as well as teenagers and adults like high drops and coasters. They have an array of different foods from all over the world as well as specialty foods that pertain to licensed character’s respective world such as cabbages from Avatar or PB & J sandwiches from SpongeBob.
They also have a horror fest which happens same as Horror nights for the Universal Parks where the lights dim low with neon colors. Smoke machines are put in place to set the stage as well, but don’t be afraid as Scooby Doo and company are here to help you. Mystery Inc. has a huge role in the park and have their own haunted mansion ride as well as meet and greets with merchandise.
This amusement park is different in a lot of different ways and has a huge selection of characters and licensed properties that people have been wanting to see. I personally plan to make a trip now that someone put it across my radar as soon as I can get out to Germany. There are also a number of stage shows and plays that can be seen such as The TMNT show, Meet the crazy cops of New York show, The Nicktoons parade.
The park is opened year round so you shouldn’t be worried about not being able to go at a seasonal time like other parks. It looks like a blast and should be placed on theme park goers bucket list. I’m a huge fan of Avatar the Last Airbender and plan on visiting that section immediately. It is also interesting to see the Ice Age ride.

I think that is an interesting point, it made me think a bit. Thanks for sparking my thinking cap. Sometimes I get so much in a rut that I just feel like a record.
