Viking River Cruise – Tips on Booking

Want to experience Europe via river cruising? Viking Cruise Line is a river cruising company that everyone around the world can experience are known to be one of the best river and ocean cruise lines throughout out the years. How does one plan as a first time cruiser, and what to expect on this journey?

I have helped out plenty of people cross out some of their travel bucket list. When people ask for travel recommendations, I always recommend a river cruise. They have beautiful modern ships and guests are taken care of like royalty. This is one way to see many different countries in 7 or more days. Here are some tips to reconsider on River Cruising.

Planning your travel during a season and room categories. Always consider traveling during the off-peak season due to cost, but be aware of high and low tide of the waters. You may not be able to cruise in the river if one of these occurs. Motor Coaching  your way to see different cities can sometimes be nice, but this isn’t what you paid for. Stateroom Categories, such as Standard Room “Swan view – below the waterline room”, French Balcony (Sliding Window), Veranda (full balcony), or Explorer Suites staterooms are your options with Viking.  With all the options, choose your stateroom wisely. I always recommend French Balcony or above for a stateroom.

Look into your booking options as Viking Cruise Line has partnered up with many different companies such as Auto Club, American Express, American Airlines, and more. Working with a travel agent can also save you money or add top promotions to your reservations such as onboard spending credit. Call your Travel Agent and ask for more details to see which offer the best value.

Lastly, read every detail on what’s included in your river cruise journey. Viking has so much to offer and this is what’s included on most of their sailings.

-One complimentary shore excursion in every port of call
-Free Wi-Fi (connection speed may vary)
-Visits to UNESCO Sites
-Enrichment lectures & Destination Performances
-Beer, wine & soft drinks with onboard lunch & dinner
-24-hour specialty coffees, teas & bottled water
-Port taxes & fees
-Ground transfers with Viking Air purchase

Doesn’t this all sound to good to be true? A lot of features are standard included already. With voyages along the European waterways with a stop on each day to a different beautiful city you are sure to never get bored. There will be plenty of time to explore in the city and on the ship. Viking River Cruise has exceeded a lot and they are still expanding to many more different countries. Time to explore the world in comfort with Viking Cruise.

Berlin, Germany – Christmas Market

My Recommendation for first time 7-day River Cruises:

“Rhine Getaway” on the Rhine River

“Romantic Danube” on the Danube River

“Christmas Along the Elbe” on Elbe River – for winter season

Whichever you decide to book, you are sure to enjoy your time and stay on a Viking Cruise.
