The Village

Living in Los Angeles for the past several years has been a blessing in being able to travel around the city and exploring new options of unique restaurants and eateries. I was very happy to be recommended The Village located on Ventura Blvd in Studio City. This quaint little tavern type bar had a modern feel to it as well. I was greeted by a young man that let me know it was his first day and was offered seating inside or outside. I chose to sit inside and was placed next to a giant wall filled with name brand liquor bottles.

The menu items had so many delicious plates it was difficult to choose but I ultimately settled for the jalapeno macaroni and cheese topped with bread crumbs as my appetizer and for the main course I chose the Jumbo scallops. The mac & cheese was savory and creamy with a light hint of heat from the jalapenos while the jumbo scallops were soft and savory while drenched in a lentil like soup that brought all the flavors together like a unique swing dance. Just take a look at the picture below if you don’t believe me.

The drink options were an assortment of specialty in house brewed cocktails along with a unique drinks from around the world. There was a chalkboard that had beers located in different regions around the world for you to choose from. I landed on one that caught my eye due to my obsession with Halloween called “The Bitches Brew”. It was their signature drink that wasn’t too strong, but did taste good. I chose a Japanese beer called Hitachino Nest White Ale. This beer was absolutely amazing and I plan to pick it up again wherever I can find it. Check out the photo below to see the drinks.

I didn’t have enough room for dessert even though I was eyeing the bread pudding. I definitely plan to return to this spot when I get the chance again, I’d love to see it when it’s lit up on a weekend and full of people. I really enjoyed the vibe it gave off with it’s interesting lay out design, red neon lights, and artistic style walls. If you ever are passing through valley of Los Angeles be sure to stop by and take a peak inside, there’s no doubt you’ll fall in love with this not so hidden gem as well. You can find it at 12345 Ventura Blvd, Studio City, CA 91604.
