Under the Bun

Keep this spot on your radar ladies and gentleman as I am calling it now, this place is going to be a household name one day. I had the pleasure of visiting this pop up gourmet hamburger spot and getting a one on one interview with the owner. Under the Bun is ran by husband and wife Luis & Gerriann and was started back in September of 2020.

Luis came up with the idea to open up his own burger place after working at some of the top rated burger chains in the country such as In N Out Burger and Five Guys. Currently they have two burgers on their menu which you can order along with their house special raspberry lemonade and classic Hawaiian brand chips. I have to tell you that I was blown away with how delicious these burgers truly are! Check out the picture below if you don’t believe me.

These photos alone are making my mouth water and crave them again. Luis was even kind enough to tell us a little off the menu secrets, which was his personal favorite called the (BP Smash!) which features Grilled Onions, Pickles, mustard fried, their house special sauce, american cheese, chopped chilies smushed together between a brioche bun. There was also a different creation called the 6am Burger for all those early birds that comes with apple wood smoked bacon, a fried egg, Champagne dressing and chopped tomatoes.

Their raspberry lemonade is also so refreshing and tastes very natural and not overly sugary or filled with artificial syrup you’d find in other brand lemonades that it would be a mistake to not buy a cup to go with your burger. Just take a look at the drink below.

They do cater to events if you want to order them for a special occasion. Their location goes from place to place so that their fans can get a chance to taste their scrumptious burgers no matter where you’re at in the greater Los Angeles area. Saturday they are located in Sylmar, Fridays you can find them in Pacoima, and Thursdays they are usually found either in Chatsworth or Northridge. If you aren’t sure where they’ll be you can find them on Instagram under the handle @Underthebunn.

I definitely plan on returning and getting my hands on some of their delicious burgers! Luis and I discussed my heritage from Hawaii so Luis if you’re ever reading this, be sure to put a slice of Pineapple and a hint of spam on mine and call it the Mini Jai! Keep your eye on this brand as it’s sure to explode in the near future.
